Mark Zuckerberg Has Blocked Trump’s FB/IG Accounts “Indefinitely”

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram will be blocked indefinitely.

Zuckerberg denounced Trump for inciting the violence that took place Wednesday when senseless MAGA supporters stormed the Capitol building, resulting in four deaths, 52 arrests, and government officials being evacuated.

“The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden.” Zuckerberg wrote in a statement posted to his Facebook page Thursday morning.

Trump has continuously used his social media platforms to spew hateful messages. In the weeks since Joe Biden was elected the next President, Trump used his platforms to claim that the election was rigged in Biden’s favor, despite multiple recounts and no evidence of election fraud. In addressing the rioters Wednesday, Trump called them “very special people.”

In his post, Zuckerberg confirmed that Trump’s social media accounts would be blocked “indefinitely” and for at least two weeks until the transition of power is completed.

“We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely, and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”

This latest ban follows Twitter, which announced Wednesday that they would be blocking the President from tweeting for 12 hours due to his inflammatory comments that sparked the Capitol’s deadly overthrow.
