Actor Marsai Martin turns 20 today and has accomplished much in her youth.

Born August 14th, 2004, the star got her start in commercials, landing her first national placement in the Choice Hotel ad “Voice of the People” at just age five.  However, in 2014, when Martin was just nine years old, she made her starring sitcom debut in “Black-ish.” She portrayed the youngest daughter alongside her TV parents, Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson. Martin earned several NAACP Image Awards for her role as Diane, the twin sister to Jack, portrayed by Miles Brown.

Before “Black-ish” concluded in April 2022, Martin became the world’s youngest executive producer to star in her own film, thanks to 2019’s “Little.” Her vision for the movie helped cement Martin’s reputation as an innovator for upcoming talent.  She became especially adored for her dedication to telling positive Black stories through her Genius Production company, which she launched at just 14.

“I have a couple of rules when you come into my office.  When you come into my office — I don’t do Black pain. If it’s Black pain, I don’t go for it because there’s so many films and projects about that, so that’s not who I am,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021.

Martin’s influence extends beyond entertainment, as she has become a fashion icon of sorts.  Her stunning red carpet looks often go viral, one of the most notable being her 2022 Waco Wearable Art Gala sequin and Black mesh look.

Her impeccable style has led to Martin getting her own collection with Pretty Little Thing, which launched in 2024.
