Maryland Health Department Issues Recall For Packaged Mushrooms After Finding Salmonella

Mushroom Recall Maryland

Mushrooms that have been sold in 15 states have been recalled over salmonella risks.

According to CBS News, two different types of packaged mushrooms from a manufacturing company called Tai Phat Wholesalers were recalled after the Maryland Department of Health found salmonella in some of the packages. The salmonella was spotted after the department bought some of the products at a retail store for routine testing, CBS News reports.

Salmonella poisoning could lead to symptoms including stomach aches, cramps, fever and diarrhea, which can last about four to seven days, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). There have yet to be any reports of consumers getting sick from the products.

The recalled product, Three Golden Coins Dried Mushrooms, was distributed to 15 different states, including New Hampshire, South Carolina, Georgia, New York, Tennessee, Mississippi and more.

In the meantime, all of the company product sales have been suspended until the recall investigation has finished, CBS News reports. Anyone who has purchased the mushroom is instructed to return the item and ask for a full refund.
