Mattel Releases Limited-Edition Tina Turner Doll Inspired By Her 1984 Hit Single “What’s Love Got To Do With It”

Mattel is honoring Tina Turner with her own Barbie doll to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her hit single “What’s Love Got To Do With It.”

On Thursday, Mattel released a doll inspired by the 1984 chart-topping song. The doll is dressed in the same attire as Tina in the single’s music video. Mattel’s team paid close attention to the video’s signature details to perfect the look.

To help bring the limited-edition doll to life, Tina made sure to be heavily involved in the creation process.

“I am honored to welcome my Barbie into the group of trailblazing women already represented and introduce more kids to my journey,” Tina says in a press release.

Tina’s Barbie comes wearing a black mini dress, denim jacket, black tights, high heels, and the over-the-top 80s-styled hair. The doll also comes with other accessories including pearl-like drop earrings, a microphone, and the singer’s signature red lipstick with matching nail polish.

The Turner doll is currently available for online purchase at sites like Amazon, Walmart, and Target for $55.

Tina released the single as apart of her fifth album ‘Private Dancer.’ The song is Tina’s first and only Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 single.  It also made her the oldest solo female artist to top the Hot 100 chart. In addition, the infamous song was also the title of her 1993 biopic starring Angela Bassett.
