McDonald’s is celebrating National Cheeseburger Day by giving away free cheeseburgers.
The fast food icon began prepping for the festivities on September 12th and 13th by allowing customers to vote on which cheeseburger they wanted free for the foodie holiday. Online voters could choose from the classic Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, or McDouble. Mickie D’s will announce the winner on September 14th. The winning burger will be available for free with any $1 purchase but must be ordered through the mobile app.

This means customers may order small fries, cookies, apple pie, or even a drink, and they’d receive the burger free, completing their lunch for a price too good to resist.
Several other fast food restaurants will be offering similar deals on National Cheeseburger Day. Dairy Queen is giving $1 off any of their Signature Stackburgers, while Jack in the Box is selling its Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger for $2. One factor with all the freebies and bargains is that restaurants require diners to order their food using the mobile app. Nationwide discounts such as these have resulted in long lines and wait times in the past. Thanks to technology, these promotions go off much smoother today.
McDonald’s will only be offering the free burger on September 18th for anyone wanting to take advantage. It is unclear if buyers are limited to just one burger, so keep an eye out for instructions in the mobile app.
