McDonald’s will celebrate National French Fry Day by giving customers a free order of large fries.
The promotion will only take place on July 13th, the day honoring the fast-food favorite. To get in on a free order of fries, all patrons must use the McDonald’s app and be a part of the free loyalty program. The coupon is valid for one order per customer.
The origin of National French Fry Day is unknown. However, it celebrates the invention of french fries, which were first mentioned in the French cookbook La cuisinière républicaine in 1795. Though several countries have taken credit for creating the tasty treat, fast food restaurants have perfected the fried potato and capitalized on them for years.
Mickey D’s is not the only restaurant giving away free fries for the unofficial holiday. Wendy’s is taking the celebration a step further by offering Fry Week, a five-day event offering various freebies to customers.
McDonald’s fans looking to enjoy the renowned menu item do not have to purchase any other food. Fry lovers are encouraged to pair the crispy salty snack with any of the dipping sauces, such as the Big Mac sauce or spicy Buffalo sauce.
For those who cannot make it to the golden arches on Wednesday, July 13th, they can still grab a free order of medium fries every Friday with any $1 minimum Mobile Order & Pay purchase, available only in the McDonald’s app.
