Megan Thee Stallion is Entering Her “Lover Girl” Era with Klay Thompson

Megan Thee Stallion is in her “Lover Girl” era and she isn’t hiding it. While social media trolls are still stuck on old theories about her past, Megan is busy celebrating a real connection with Dallas Mavericks star Klay Thompson.

In a recent heart-to-heart with PEOPLE, the Houston Hottie opened up about how this relationship wasn’t something she went out looking for, it actually found her once she started putting herself first.

Megan made it clear that she isn’t the type to pressure anyone into a relationship just for the aesthetic. She believes love should be organic, not forced. “Well, I don’t never want to tell [anybody] to just jump in a relationship just because everybody else got one, and I’m not going to tell you to just jump in a relationship because you have to,” Megan expressed. “I didn’t even know I was going to be in my relationship, to be honest… I think that because finally I started being in a better mind space about myself and my life. And I had already been doing a lot of work to heal me. I had been going to therapy, I had a bunch of activities that I started doing for myself. Maybe God just opened up that space for me to have somebody that loved me right.”

That focus on herself paid off in a big way. She credits her time in therapy and her commitment to self-care as the foundation for why she was finally ready to receive a healthy partner. Instead of chasing a vibe, she worked on her own internal peace, and that’s when everything clicked with the NBA champion.

“People got to stop trying to be in love and trying to chase love,” muses the star. “They just got to let it come to them. When it’s meant for you, it’s going to happen. God does not give you nothing that is not meant for you.”

For a superstar who has spent so much time under a microscope, this new chapter is all about ease and security. Megan shared that for the first time in a long time, she doesn’t feel like she has to perform or be “on” for anyone. “This is one of the first times that I’ve ever been just overly comfortable,” she added. “I’m comfy, babe!”

By choosing herself first, Megan managed to land exactly where she was meant to be, happy, healed, and very much in love.
