Megan Thee Stallion’s Lawyers Slam Tory Lanez Over Surprise Album Lyrics, “A Smear Campaign Can’t Change The Truth”

Tory Lanez dropped a surprise album titled ‘Daystar,” and in the lyrics, he attempts to discredit the claims against him that he shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. Her team claims that the representatives for Tory Lanez allegedly attempted to stage a “smear campaign” against her to discredit the claims against him.

On July 12th, in Los Angeles; Lanez, Megan, and two other individuals were pulled over and Lanez was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm. The four had gotten pulled over by the police because a witness had heard gunfire outside a second residence and described the car they were traveling in.

In the initial reports, Meg said that she had cut her foot on glass, but over time she shared to social media that she had been shot by Lanez when she walked away from the car after an argument. Meg says that she did not tell the police that Lanez had shot her because “We was already in enough trouble.”

In a statement to Variety, Megan’s attorney, Alex Spiro says: “We have been made aware of manipulated text messages and invented email accounts that have been disseminated to the media in a calculated attempt to peddle a false narrative about the events that occurred on July the 12. A smear campaign can’t change the truth.” Lanez reps have yet to respond to Variety‘s request for comment.

In one of the emails that Variety received from Meg’s reps, linked a three-minute video in which a man claimed to be a former bodyguard for Lanes. He stated nervously that he had never seen Lanez be violent with women and that he knows Lanez “wouldn’t do nothing like” the accusations that have been placed on him.

TMZ reported screenshots from an email from LIV nightclub in Miami that claims Megan’s management, Roc Nation, influenced the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed against Lanez, claiming he went on a dangerous attack in the club, but Roc Nation has denied the claims.

A source tells Variety that law enforcement has the bullets that were removed from Meg’s foot and that her team is cooperating with police.

The rep for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office did not respond to Variety’s questions about whether there has been any update. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The most recent statement reads: “On July 24, our office asked law enforcement for further investigation before making a filing decision on a charge of felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm, against Daystar Peterson [Tory Lanez’s real name].”

Tory Lanez has kept a low profile since his arrest, but the backstory of the incident has unraveled gradually over the past few weeks, even though the incident was reported a few hours after it happened. Most of the details of the incident have come from Megan herself accusing Lanez of being the one who shot her after weeks of dropping hints to her social media.

She said, “Yes, this n—a Tory shot me,” in a video posted to her Instagram. “You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people to [talk to] these blogs, lying and s––. Stop lying!” Many people on social media accused Meg of physically abusing Lanez or faking the shooting.

She then posted photos of her injured foot on Instagram but deleted them a few hours later. More posts about the incident surfaced. On Aug. 20 she tweeted, “Lie one more time and ima quit sparing you,” shortly after she named Tory Lanez as her shooter.

Surveillance footage of the arrest shows Lanez, the unidentified woman, and later Megan surrounded by multiple police cars and a helicopter hovering above, with them lying spread-eagled on the ground near the vehicle.

According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, Lanez was released on a $35,000 bond. He is due back in court on Oct. 13.

Nine days after the shooting, Megan did a cover interview with Variety, but she declined to discuss the incident any further, but she did say, “I’m not the type of person who can stay down for a long time. I don’t like to be sad or keep myself in a dark place because I know it could be the worst thing happening, but the pain and the bad things don’t last for long.” She added, “Why are y’all so upset that I don’t wanna be in the bed sad?”

One thing that we know for certain is that this incident has done nothing to slow down Meg’s career.
