Another year, another meltdown from Megyn Kelly. The former Fox News anchor, now known more for stirring outrage than delivering journalism, is once again grabbing headlines—this time for attacking the 2025 Met Gala and its theme celebrating Black Dandyism.
Before we dive into her bizarre outburst, let’s quickly remember who Megyn Kelly is: the same woman who insisted that both Santa Claus and Jesus are white, questioned why blackface is offensive, and once said the biggest problem with the #MeToo movement was that it went “too far.” So, when Kelly starts ranting about something celebrating Black culture, let’s just say—this isn’t new territory.
This time, her issue is with this year’s Met Gala theme: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, a high-fashion homage to Black Dandyism—a cultural tradition that emerged from the creative collision of African and European fashion sensibilities, redefined by Black individuals as a form of elegance, resistance, and self-expression. Think sharp tailoring, bold silhouettes, and historical nods to style as power.

But Kelly wasn’t interested in understanding any of that.
In a rant that aired on her podcast, Kelly mocked the concept as “leftist, academic gobbledygook,” called the theme pandering, and made it painfully clear she neither read the book inspiring the exhibit nor cared to understand it. She described the Met Gala as “Black Lives Matter at the Met,” criticized the fashion as “weird shapes and vaginas showing,” and suggested the whole event was just a ploy by elites to look “woke.”Whew. Where do we even begin?
First off, Black Dandyism is a rich and complex style tradition that has been a source of empowerment for generations. It’s about reclaiming the power of fashion in spaces where Black people were once excluded or objectified. The 2025 Gala brought that to life, and celebrities like Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna wore looks that blended art, history, and culture—while raising a record-breaking amount for the Met’s Costume Institute. So why is Megyn Kelly really so upset?
Because the Met Gala wasn’t about her. And for people like Kelly, who thrive off outrage and culture war rhetoric, anything that centers Black culture, history, and artistry without catering to white comfort zones is instantly labeled “nonsense” or “pandering.”Here’s the truth: If MAGA media stopped staying mad about things that have nothing to do with them, they wouldn’t have much to say at all. Fashion evolves, culture expands, and events like the Met Gala are meant to celebrate all the layers that make style meaningful—including the ones Fox News doesn’t understand.
The real story here isn’t about a confused rant over “esthetes” and “diasporic identity.” It’s that Black creatives showed up, showed out, and broke records—and some people still can’t handle seeing that.
And let’s be honest: the only thing more tired than Megyn Kelly’s rants is pretending they matter. The Met Gala was fabulous. The fashion was forward. And Black Dandyism? It’s here to stay.
