UPDATE:
A representative for Method Man has responded to the allegations, stating: “Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency.”
Legendary rapper and actor Method Man, a founding member of the iconic hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan, is facing allegations of assault after an incident at a Crunch Fitness gym on Staten Island.
Law enforcement sources told The NY Post Thursday that the 53-year-old artist, whose real name is Clifford Smith, allegedly punched a man in the face seven times “with a closed fist.”
The alleged altercation reportedly stems from a relationship the 28-year-old victim had with Method Man’s daughter more than a decade ago, though further details about the connection remain unclear.
According to sources, the victim reported experiencing pain and dizziness following the alleged assault but declined medical attention at the scene.
A complaint report was filed with the NYPD, but no arrests have been made, and Method Man was not taken into custody.
