It was announced after three years that the greatest basketball player ever, Michael Jordan, will be coming back to the NBA on NBC next season following a three-year hiatus from the Association. NBC revealed yesterday that 23 will be joining the network as a “special contributor,” as NBC and the NBA rekindle their relationship for the first time in over 23 years.
“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” Jordan said in a statement. “The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”
A 14-time All-Star, five-time MVP, six-time Finals champion — and the MVP in each one — Jordan had some of his most magical moments on NBC. This only amplifies the legend that is 23 within the network.
NBC Sports released a statement sharing their excitement to have Mike back in the fold. “Michael’s legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself,” NBC Sports President Rick Cordella said. “We’re incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.”
NBC continues to build on its 1990s nostalgia by adding Jordan after a 23-year hiatus. They’re moving in the right direction, securing two of the most important figures from the peak of their NBA powers — first Reggie Miller, and now the GOAT, Michael Jordan.
