A Michigan police officer successfully carried out a daring rescue to pull a man out of a car following a fiery rollover crash, and the whole thing was caught on camera.
Body camera footage shows Harper Woods Police Officer Luke Pauley, 30, run toward the fiery vehicle and open the front passenger door, according to Fox 2 Detroit.Â
“As soon as I got out of my squad car, there was a bunch of bystanders yelling at me that somebody was trapped, so my training just kicked in,” Pauley told WDIV. “Somehow, he made it into the passenger seat of the vehicle — I don’t know if it was from the impact.”
Dashcam footage from a responding officer shows Pauley pulling the 23-year-old victim to safety across the roadway.
The driver was conscious as he was brought to an area hospital and is expected to be ok.
“All I could think of was — perfect timing, glad we got here,” Pauley said. “I don’t think he would have made it. Timing was perfect. Somebody was looking out for him.”
No first responders were injured. The accident is now being investigated by the Michigan State Police.Â
