The FBI announced the arrest of a sitting Milwaukee County circuit judge, accusing her of actively interfering in an immigration enforcement operation.
Judge Hannah Dugan, a well-known figure in Wisconsin’s legal community, was taken into custody on federal obstruction charges. According to FBI Director Kash Patel, Judge Dugan allegedly misdirected federal agents who were attempting to apprehend an undocumented immigrant, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, during court proceedings.
In a statement released via social media, Patel said, “The FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction — after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week.”
Federal officials claim that Judge Dugan intentionally diverted agents away from Flores Ruiz inside the courthouse, allowing him a brief window to evade arrest. The suspect was later captured after a foot chase by agents and is currently in custody.
While Flores Ruiz is now detained, authorities say the incident caused unnecessary risk to public safety. “The Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public,” Patel emphasized.
