Khyree Jackson, the Minnesota Vikings cornerback, was killed Saturday along with two other people in a car accident in Maryland, according to authorities.
Maryland State Police told TMZ that Jackson, Isaiah Hazel, and Anthony Lytton were driving in a maroon Dodge Charger in Upper Marlboro early this morning when they collided with two other vehicles. Investigators learned that one of the other motorists, driving a silver Infiniti, rammed into the Charger while trying to change lanes at a high rate of speed. This caused the Charger to crash into a moving Chevy Impala before veering off the road and hitting a cluster of trees.
Paramedics pronounced Jackson and Hazel dead at the scene. Lytton was rushed to a local hospital, where he later passed away. No one else was injured in the incident.
MSP officials stated that the investigation is ongoing. So far, police have not issued any summonses or made any arrests.
Khyree’s mother, Ebbony Jackson, confirmed his death, telling TMZ that she received a call about his passing at 4 AM ET today.
Jackson was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 108th overall. Before being drafted, Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah spoke with Jackson on the phone, and Jackson promised to make an impact on the team.
Jackson began his college career at the University of Alabama before transferring to the University of Oregon for his final season, where he recorded 34 tackles, two sacks, and three interceptions.
Born in Upper Marlboro, MD, Jackson attended Dr. Henry Wise High School. He was only 24.
