Just months after Mo’Nique filed a lawsuit against Netflix for discrimination, accusing the streaming service of low-balling her offer due to her race and gender, the comedy queen has landed her own special on Showtime.
According to Shadow and Act, Mo’Nique will host her first hour-long stand-up special in over a decade, with special guests, including ‘Chappelle’s Show’ star Donnell Rawlings and newcomers, Prince T-Dub, Tone-x, Correy Bell and more.
The special, “Mo’Nique & Friends: Live From Atlanta,” which was executive produced by the comedian and her husband, Sidney Hicks, and filmed at Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse, will air on February 7 at 10pm on Showtime.
Though the news comes on the heels of the comedian’s lawsuit against Netflix, it also comes amid Mo’Nique’s return to the big screen, as she recently landed a lead role in the new revenge flick, “Mother Trucker.”
