MTV has decided to stop production on “Ridiculousness,” marking the end of a major chapter in the network’s history.
“Ridiculousness” was halted back in July, though there were plans for the series to return in January. However, MTV has decided it will not produce new episodes. Instead, the network will air already completed ones through 2026. Throwback seasons will also continue to run and can be viewed on Paramount+.
Since its 2011 debut, “Ridiculousness” became a standout of MTV’s lineup. Hosted by Rob Dyrdek, alongside Steelo Brim and model Lauren “Lolo” Wood, the series ran for more than 900 episodes. It featured viral video fails and celebrity reactions. With social media now offering endless viral content at our fingertips, a show like “Ridiculousness” feels less essential in today’s entertainment landscape.
This decision to scrap the show follows the controversial Paramount-Skydance merger, which has already led to countless layoffs. Last month, it was also announced that “Catfish” had been canceled after nine seasons on MTV.
