After years of busting fake social media profiles and helping hopeless romantics, “Catfish” is officially ending.

MTV has decided to cancel “Catfish” after nine seasons and over 300 episodes, closing a major chapter in reality TV. Nev Schulman, who launched the show after highlighting his own experience in his 2010 documentary, took to Instagram alongside original cohost Max Joseph to confirm the news.

“After 12 years and so many reverse image searches, ‘Catfish’ has officially been canceled,” Nev shared. Max chimed in, joking that the show might be “just on pause,” but both seemed to understand this was the final curtain.

Nev also thanked the viewers and the guests who allowed their online relationship stories to be told, calling the show a “global conversation” about trust and empathy. Max added that hearing from fans who watched with their families meant everything.

Nev closed the video with a nod to the show’s most viral moment: “Never call someone a fat a** Kelly Price.”

Though the series has ended, Nev’s next chapter is already in motion. He recently announced he’s entering the real estate game in NYC, calling it his “real estate era.”

As for “Catfish,” it leaves behind a legacy of internet sleuthing, life lessons, and unforgettable TV moments, including the introduction to the late social media star, Rolling Ray.
