Was That Shade? Muni Long Includes Mariah Carey Impersonator in Her “Delulu” Visual [Video]

Muni Long is making headlines again with a new skit promoting her latest single.

Video

In the clip, a Mariah Carey impersonator auditions for Muni by performing the song and advising her to sing it the same way. After the impersonator leaves, Muni stamps “Delulu” on her headshot and tells the camera, “I just don’t like when other people sing my songs.”

Fans quickly speculated that the skit was a subtle jab at Mariah, sparking debate online. The tension between the singers dates back to March at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, when Muni performed a cover of Mariah’s “We Belong Together” to honor her.

Observers noted that Mariah appeared to give side eye during the performance, which some interpreted as disapproval.

Months later, Mariah addressed the performance in a GQ interview but seemed confused by the question. She said, “I didn’t even hear the cover. I didn’t know it happened. No one told me.”

She clarified her feelings about Muni’s tribute, saying, “I love Muni Long! I just didn’t know that she had done ‘We Belong Together’ [as a cover] ‘cause her song was so similar to ‘We Belong Together.’ I had no idea that she did ‘We Belong Together.’” She added, “Well, I’m very honored and flattered that she did it. I love Muni Long, she’s a great person, umm, but I just don’t like people doing my songs.”

After the Instagram clip went viral, some fans accused Muni of shading Mariah. Muni quickly addressed the backlash, posting a response on her account: “Y’all don’t be delulu. I would never disrespect Queen Mariah!!!!! Forever a Lamb.”

While some see humor in the clip, others speculated it might be shade, but Muni’s response makes it clear that her respect for Mariah remains the same.
