The late great Nate Dogg has been dubbed hip hop’s king of hooks. Ty Dolla $ign recently sat down with Power106’s Teddy Mora and Melissa Rios, where he stated, “Nate Dogg was carrying a huge torch, and he passed it down.”
Snoop Dogg apparently cosigned the statement. “Snoop said I’m the reincarnation of Nate Dogg,” according to Ty.
Nate Dogg’s son, Naijiel Hale, caught wind of the comments and took to social media to voice his disagreements on the subject in a series of now-deleted posts.
In the first post, Hale posted a screenshot of Dr. Dre’s “Kush” featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon.
“Y’all remember this song 9 years ago after my daddy died and n***as wanted @akon as a replacement so bad they didn’t even mention the whole Nate Dogg sound that’s in there. This is when I knew,” he captions in the now-deleted screenshot.
In the second post, captioned “ALL THIS SHIT DEAD,” he posted up a screenshot of the headline “Ty Dolla $ign Responds To Snoop Dogg Calling Him The ‘Reincarnation Of Nate Dog.”
Hale took to his Instagram story for the third post where he explained that he actually things Ty Dolla $ign is dope, Snoop can say what he wants, and that he is allowed to disagree because that’s his “daddy.”
“Ty$ cold af and I like that nigga sound,” he started.
“It was cool to compare him to my pops before y’all knew about me.
Coach Snoop can say what he wwnt [sic] cause he the king, but he gone see,” he continued.
“I can disagree cause that’s my daddy.”
“I can prove the disagreement and still come correct,” he concluded. “For the niggas in the back that don’t got a voice like this… shut yo old asses up.”
