NBA YoungBoy Faces Additional Charges in Prescription Drug Fraud Case

NBA YoungBoy’s legal issues are intensifying as he now faces more charges in his prescription drug fraud case. The rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was previously charged with identity fraud, forgery, obtaining a prescription under false pretenses, possession of a dangerous weapon, unlawful activity, and possession of a controlled substance.

Recently, more charges were added, including possession of a firearm by a restricted person and obtaining a prescription without permission. The Weber County Attorney’s Office in Utah is pushing for him to be held without bail, citing concerns that he could be a danger to others or flee the jurisdiction.

YoungBoy was arrested for his involvement in a prescription drug fraud ring in Utah. The alleged scheme involved calling in fake prescriptions for Promethazine with Codeine using a real doctor’s identity and fake patient information. YoungBoy and his associates allegedly picked up the prescriptions. Suspicion arose when he used “axed” instead of “asked” while impersonating a doctor.

Despite these allegations, YoungBoy has yet to comment. He was under house arrest in Salt Lake City at the time of his arrest, following his indictment in Louisiana for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

YoungBoy’s legal woes date back to 2017 when he was convicted of aggravated assault with a weapon. In September 2020, he was found with two guns during a music video shoot, leading to charges in Louisiana and California. He was acquitted in California but is awaiting trial in Louisiana.

The Baton Rouge native was among 16 people arrested on drug and weapons charges in Louisiana. In Los Angeles, he was arrested on a federal warrant, leading to additional charges for illegal firearm possession.

His attorney maintains his innocence, and a judge ordered the return of some seized assets.
