Netflix and Uninterrupted are teaming up to produce a documentary called “The Redeem Team,” highlighting the journey behind the 2008 Olympic men’s basketball glory in Beijing.
In a behind-the-scenes, immersive documentary, viewers will learn the story behind the U.S. men’s basketball team and their victory at the 2008 USA Olympics. The film will feature interviews with players, including LeBron James, Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski, Dwayne Wade, and Kobe Bryant, who led the team.
“In 2008, I played with heroes of mine, all-stars, friends, and future teammates. Outside of winning and showing the world that we were still the most dominant, our other big challenge was changing the perception of what everyone thought about the NBA and USA Basketball!” said Wade upon the announcement of the documentary. “I’m excited for everyone to get an opportunity to go behind the scenes and see all the work that went into this iconic team — The Redeem Team!”
The film is directed by Jon Weinbach, Complex Media reports. Wade will serve as an executive producer alongside James, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson and Uninterrupted’s Phillip Byron. “The Redeem Team” will make its debut on Netflix on Oct. 7.
