Netflix has extended its partnership with Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison Productions for the third time, to produce four more films. Under this extension, Sandler will write, produce and voice star in an animated film.
In 2014, Sandler and Happy Madison garnered a four-movie deal, becoming one of the first big names to secure a deal with the streaming service. The first movie released under that deal was 2015’s comedy The Ridiculous Six. Realizing the success of Sandler films, Netflix signed on in 2017.
While few details are available, if his past work is any indication of what’s to come, fans are in for many more laughs in their Netflix and Chill sessions.
Sandler’s last Netflix film, “Murder Mystery,” became the platform’s “most popular” film in 2019, with 83 million households tuning in, according to Netflix. In fact, the film performed so well; a sequel is already in production. His next Netflix movie, “Hubie Halloween,” will be released later this year, starring Kevin James, Shaquille O’Neal, Ray Liotta, and Maya Rudolph.
