New Jersey Giving Away Free Beer To Fully Vaccinated Residents

New Jersey is offering a free beer this month for anyone who has received the COVID-19 vaccine.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced the “Shot and a Beer” program on Monday. The initiative will provide a complimentary glass of beer to anyone 21 or over at participating locations across the state. Murphy unveiled the plan as a part of his push to reach 4.7 million vaccinated residents by the end of June.

“Shot and a Beer” is just one of several programs to entice people to get the shot.

“We need that push. You have to find a way to motivate people. This is one way to do it,” explained Dr. Perry N. Halkitis, dean of the Rutgers School of Public Health.

According to New Jersey’s Health Department, over 7.5 million vaccine doses have been administered in New Jersey as of Monday, and 3.2 million residents have been fully vaccinated in the state.

Residents looking to take part in “Shot and a Beer” can show their vaccination cards to any of the 13 participating bars and breweries in the state and receive one free brew. Battle River Brewing, Hackensack Brewing Company, and Gaslight Brewery and Restaurant are just a few locations eager to serve its vaccinated patrons.
