According to ABC News, the incident occurred in Wildwood, New Jersey, on Saturday around 4 p.m. In the video, several Wildwood police officers work together in an attempt to subdue 20-year-old Emily Weinman, as she flailed her arms and legs while dressed in a bathing suit on the beach. However, as the officers’ attempt to restrain Weinman continues, an officer throws three punches on the woman’s head, as another officer pins her legs down.

According to Weinman, the officers first approached her over the alcohol, but things took a turn for the worse when the officers refused to leave her alone. She said she walked off to make a call, but the police followed, which prompted the woman to ask about their motives.

“I asked them don’t they have something better to do as cops than to stop people from underage drinking on the beach,” the post read, which forced the officer to act on the crime, saying, “I was gonna let you go but now I’ll write you up.”

Weinman said she refused to give up her name, which forced the officer to threaten to arrest her. But, as she tried to back away from the officer, she tripped and that’s when the officer tackled her.

Despite the actions of the officer though, Weinman still faces charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated assault by spitting bodily fluids at a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstruction and possession of alcohol by a minor.
