As politicians from both sides urge President Joe Biden to withdraw from the election, some sources claim his friend, former President Barack Obama, also wants him to reconsider.
On Thursday, the Associated Press shared a report alleging Obama was expressing his concern behind closed doors. He reportedly warned his previous Vice President that the Democrats may be unable to control the House if Biden stays in the race. Republicans currently make up the majority, which could stay the same if Biden does not leave his campaign, multiple sources close to the matter told the AP. Still, the insiders contend the 44th president is not pushing Biden in one way or another and has continued to support him publicly.
“Obama has conveyed to allies that Biden needs to consider the viability of his campaign but has also made clear that the decision is one Biden needs to make,” the outlet wrote.
Much like Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi allegedly had a private conversion with Biden, during which she also expressed concerns about the future of the House if he doesn’t step aside. This latest news comes just days after the New York Times reported that Biden’s campaign’s analytics team was conducting research to determine how well VP Kamala Harris would fare against Donald Trump if she were to take Biden’s place in the race.
Many people have also claimed Biden’s cognitive state deems him unfit to run the country for a second term. After his lackluster debate performance, concerns only skyrocketed. Additionally, during the recent NATO summit, Biden referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin.” Despite these blunders, the 81-year-old maintains he is in good health and capable of doing his job.
