Actress Nia Long and suspended Celtics head coach Ime Udoka have officially called it quits, a source confirmed to PEOPLE.
The news of the split follows reports that Udoka, 45, allegedly had an intimate relationship with a female member of the franchise’s staff.
“The situation is unfortunate and painful, but Nia is focusing on her children and rebuilding her life,” the source says. A rep also confirmed the news to the outlet, saying the couple is “no longer together but remain fully committed to co-parenting their son [Kez].”
Just last week, Long, 51, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the ordeal saying, “I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public.”
Long and Udoka were together for 13 years and had been engaged since 2015. They share one child together, 11-year-old son Kez.
Prior to the start of the 2022-23 NBA season, the Celtics organization issued a statement on Udoka’s immediate suspension, stating he violated “team policies” after ESPN reported about the coach’s alleged affair.
Udoka later told ESPN’s Malika Andrews in a statement, “I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down,” he said. “I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision.”
