Nickelodeon has announced a prequel to its hit series, Spongebob Squarepants, along with a live-action version of the series, The Loud House.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nick is focusing on expanding existing franchises and launching new ones, to reflect the diversity of the network’s target audience and find shows families will watch together.
Kamp Koral: Spongebob’s Under Years is set to follow Spongebob through summer camp and will feature the original voice cast, including Tom Kenny. The prequel is set to premiere in July 2020.
Loud House: A Very Loud Christmas will follow Lincoln Loud as he prepares for the ultimate Christmas as he finds out that his sisters are spending Christmas somewhere else. After learning this information, Lincoln and his best friend go on an adventure to ruin his sisters’ plans. Production is set to start in the summer and will premiere during the 2020 holiday season.
