Nicki Minaj is cooking up something new, but don’t expect a rushed release.
In a new interview with Vogue Italia, the rap icon shared that her next album is in the works and filled with heart but she’s not dropping it until it feels right.
“I’ve got a bunch of really strong tracks, but I don’t want to rush,” Nicki said. “I want the record to mean something, both for the fans and for me. I’ll never be one of those people who puts out songs just to put them out. I love music. I respect it.”
Nicki’s last album, Pink Friday 2, dropped in December 2023 and marked her first full-length release in five years. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and featured hits like “Everybody” with Lil Uzi Vert and “FTCU.”
Now, as the Barbz await her next era, Nicki’s already thinking about getting back on stage. “[I want] to experience it all again, as soon as possible. For me, and for the Barbz,” she said.
While she didn’t name any upcoming collabs, she did shout out a few artists she’s been feeling lately.
“Sabrina Carpenter. I didn’t know she’d been around that long when I started listening to her. A breath of fresh air,” Nicki said. “I like Billie Eilish. I love everything she does. Then there’s a dancehall artist… his name’s Skeng.”
It’s clear that Nicki isn’t doing this for clout; she wants to release music that truly reflects where she is right now, and as the Queen of Rap, she’s guaranteed to deliver.
