Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, reportedly unable to appear for mediation with his sexual assault accuser.
According to AllHipHop, Petty won’t be participating in mediation in the near future. The court mandated mediation for all parties on March 6th, but Petty became sick and wasn’t able to attend. After being rescheduled to March 9th and then canceled, Petty and Minaj’s lawyer, Steven D. Isser, are now requesting a new date of March 24th from Judge James R. Cho.
“We respectfully request that the Court extend the mediation deadline to March 24, 2023, which will hopefully be sufficient time for Mr. Petty to recover and the for parties and the Mediator to schedule a mutually available date for the mediation,” Isser worte. “Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
In 1995, Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of Jennifer Hough. Petty served over four years in prison for the crime and was later released. However, Hough sued the Pettys in 2021 for allegedly intimidating, harassing and threatening her with hopes that she recants her allegations. In addition, she also sued Minaj, claiming she participated is the harassment. However, Hough dropped her claims against Minaj earlier this year but Petty remained as a defendant in the case.
That same year, Petty pleaded guilty for not registering as a sex offender. As a result, in July, a judge sentenced him to one year of home confinement and three years of probation. Petty later initiated legal proceedings against the State of New York and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding his classification as a sex offender.
