A North Dakota woman is behind bars after allegedly running over several acquaintances who questioned her cocaine use.
The chaos unfolded in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 18th. Shortly after 2:00 a.m., police were called to the 4500 block of Seventh Avenue South in Fargo after reports came in about a woman hitting people with her car. When they arrived at the parking lot of Cairo Restaurant and Bar, they were met with a chaotic scene. A woman, identified as 24-year-old Princess Gweh, had reportedly gotten into a fight with a woman outside the bar. A Cairo employee allegedly jumped in to break up the fight and, at some point, ended up becoming a victim of Gweh. Court documents claim Gweh used her Audi to hit the employee three times, even reversing her vehicle to run over the employee.
While in the hospital, the Cairo worker told investigators it seemed that Gweh was trying to run over her head with the car. She sustained a broken pelvis and various injuries to her lower body and legs. After attacking the employee, police believe Gweh turned her attention to the woman she was fighting and her boyfriend, striking both of them with the car. At least one person is said to have life-threatening injuries.
Cairo owner Heba Ismail told Valley News that while she doesn’t condone the violence that occurred, once it began, there was nothing she could do.
“It’s hard, but I can’t control people’s personal lives. If they want to fight, I can’t do a lot about it,” adding that the restaurant had only been open for about a year.
While police haven’t released a motive, a series of social media posts from loved ones of the victims paint a picture of Gweh becoming irate after being confronted over her drug use. One screenshot that has circulated online appears to show at least one of the victims in a hospital bed, pleading for prayers and ending with the message, “Stay off the coke.”
