Offset might be avoiding direct shots in his music, but his recent comments suggest the petty energy is still alive.
During a new episode of “The Joe Budden Podcast,” the rapper hinted at lingering resentment following his breakup with Cardi B, without ever saying her name.
When asked if it hurts more when a partner cheats “up” or “down,” Offset responded with a slick comment.
According to him, no woman he’s ever been with has upgraded after their relationship, so he can’t weigh in.
“Every situation I’ve ever seen go on … It’s like the unseasoned version,” he admitted. “I’m dead serious.”
Offset also spoke on Cardi’s single “Outside,” which many believe is aimed at him. He claims there were no surprises.
“I actually knew about the song before the song came out, like prior to the bulls**t that was happening,” he explained. “If it is stuff at me… Everything is a timing thing. That record’s been done. I know about the record. It look like how it look.”
Since Cardi filed for divorce last summer, she and Offset have exchanged their share of public shots. From name-calling to exposing private arguments, their breakup has unfolded in front of millions online. Though things have quieted down recently, Offset’s latest remarks make it clear the tension hasn’t gone anywhere.
Still, when asked if he would be responding to the drama on his upcoming album “Kiari,” Offset said no.
“I might speak on life situations, but I’m not doing that. That ain’t the way to do it. There’s too much involved, family, kids. That s**t gonna be lame 10 years from now,” he stated.
“Kiari,” which is named after Offset’s real name, drops August 22nd. And while he’s steering clear of direct disses, he admitted he will be expressing how he feels, just not in a way that creates more public chaos.
