Upcoming Ohio rapper Breneisha Lightfoot, better known as Ahlotta, has been found dead after a days-long search for her.
News 5 Cleveland confirmed that Lightfoot’s body was discovered on Friday in the Slavic Village neighborhood of Cleveland. Police have not yet revealed how she died, but they did believe something brutal had happened to her early in the search. Lightfoot’s family asked police to perform a welfare check on the young woman on Tuesday, July 18th. Their concerns arose after her birthday came and went, with no one able to reach her. Once police arrived at her apartment in Bedford, they stumbled across a scene that looked as if someone had been “seriously injured” there. Her cell phone was also located in a front yard of a residence. However, there was no sign of Lightfoot.
Volunteers, including her fellow rapper and friend, Big Topic, organized a search on the same day her remains were located. Her boyfriend, Michael Roarty-Nugent, had been the prime suspect since day one. He had oddly vanished as well but was found and taken into custody on Friday before Lightfoot’s body was found.
Lightfoot was an adored member of the community, joining the Wolfpack Gunshot Response Team, a group that is trained to help gunshot victims while they wait for emergency services to arrive. Those who worked with Lightfoot in the organization praised her efforts and dedication to saving lives.
“She was my best. She was my brightest,” said Wolfpack trainer Suncere Ali Shakur.
She was also dedicated to her rhymes, having amassed 24,000 Instagram followers as she constantly shared new music. Lightfoot would frequently share clips of her working with other artists and creators as well.
Roarty-Nugent has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $2 million bond. He has pleaded not guilty.
