More information is being revealed about Patrick Beverley’s and the details are a bit concerning.
TMZ Sports has confirmed that the ex‑NBA player is accused of punching his sister in the eye and choking her for up to 30 seconds at a Texas home. According to a probable cause affidavit, Beverley’s sister said she left the house in the early hours of November 14 without permission to meet her boyfriend, Aiden Hilderbrand, at a nearby park. When she returned, their mother, Lisa, was awake and asked her to enter her room. She then told the daughter to call Hilderbrand and have him come pick her up.
Hilderbrand arrived, was told to go inside, and Lisa subsequently called Beverley to come to the house. Beverley then confronted his sister and “grabbed her by her neck with both hands, and picked her up off the ground, by having her feet come up from the floor,” the affidavit states. The sister said the hold made her feel pain and as though she couldn’t breathe, lasting between 20 and 30 seconds.
The documents further claim Beverley forced her out of the bedroom by the neck, slammed her body against the walls in an open‑room area, laid her on the sofa, stood on top of her, and then punched her “approximately one time on her left eye with a closed fist.” During the alleged incident, Beverley is said to have told her that “he will be the family relative to kill her.”
After the confrontation, Hilderbrand called the authorities. Deputies observed markings on the sister’s neck and petechiae in the whites of her eyes, indicators commonly associated with strangulation. Beverley was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on a felony assault charge for impeding breath or circulation and was later released on bond.
A statement from Beverley read: “Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well Luv.”
His attorney added, “Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister, a young lady, a minor. Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18‑year‑old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we don’t believe what followed happened the way it has been described, and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court.”
This case remains ongoing.
