Paul George is leaving the West Coast to team up with Joel Embiid on the Philadelphia 76ers, forming what could be one of the best Big 3s in the league. Tyrese Maxey has signed his extension, and with the recent addition of France’s impact player Gabreon Yabusele, the Sixers have spent nearly half a million dollars on new signings and re-signings this off-season.
On his podcast, Paul George hosted Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren, who asked a question many Philly fans have been wondering: Who gets the last shot at the end of the game—PG or 2023 MVP Joel Embiid? Both players are Alphas who are used to being the first option due to their immense talent.
“Let me mess up your chemistry right now. Y’all need a bucket at the end of the game—who’s taking the game-winning shot, you or Joel Embiid?” Holmgren asked, as he and his co-hosts chuckled while George hesitated on how to answer.
“That’s a Nick Nurse question… whoever Nick Nurse draws it up for, we’re gonna get the best shot,” George replied. When Holmgren mentioned that it sounded like a PR answer, George reminded him that he’s been in this situation before with the Los Angeles Clippers alongside Kawhi Leonard and with OKC alongside Russell Westbrook.
“I’ve been on teams with other superstars; we live and die with whoever takes it,” George added.
This will be new territory for Embiid, having a player of George’s caliber by his side as he heads into his 14th season. Despite his experience, George remains effective, having averaged 23 points, five rebounds, and four assists last season for the Clippers. Embiid having someone else to help shoulder the load is exactly what he needs to get to the next level.

Hopefully, this new dynamic will help the Sixers make it back to the NBA Finals, something they haven’t achieved in nearly a quarter of a century. However, George will need to play better than he did this past week, as fans joked about a random player he was matched up against who wouldn’t let him score.
Nah but why was he highkey getting STRAPPED UP 😭🔒 he underestimated the Chinese champs https://t.co/SSO2Ddtps5 pic.twitter.com/LLP8jn1Q7T
