Philadelphia police were able to use a missing teenager’s cell phone to track down his location. The teen, abducted from his home Sunday night, was located during the early morning hours the following day.
Family members told ABC6 that they heard what sounded like a struggle coming from the basement. However, when they went to investigate, the 17-year-old was gone. Authorities discovered blood and bullets outside the home. The family also located A bullet hole in the basement of the house.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said officers used the teen’s cell phone to track his location.
“We were able to track the 17-year-old’s cell phone to a property in the 6200 block of Trotter Street. When police went to that location, they declared it a barricade since we believed that this was an abduction point of gun,” he said.
Hostage negotiators and the SWAT team were called to the scene and spoke to the suspects inside. Shortly after, three individuals in their 20s came out of the house. The abducted teen was found inside the home with bruising to his face and head. He was also bleeding heavily from his head and going in and out of consciousness. The teen was brought to a hospital, where he was reunited with his family. He is listed in stable condition.
The teen was able to identify all of the suspects, and they were subsequently arrested. They could face kidnapping and assault charges. The motive for the kidnapping was not immediately made clear; however, authorities believe the teen has a history with at least one of the suspects.
