Rapper Pooh Shiesty may be considering a plea deal in his federal robbery case.
The 21-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Lontrell Williams, told a judge that he wants to amend his “plea from not guilty to guilty,” according to Rolling Stone. On Thursday, Williams, and his co-defendant Bobby Brown revealed their intentions during a five-minute court session.
The case stems from an October 2020 shooting and robbery that took place outside Miami’s Landon Hotel, in which they, along with co-defendant Jayden Darosa, allegedly shot and robbed two men.
Defense lawyer Bradford Cohen told Rolling Stone, “We’ve entered into plea negotiations because there have been developments in the case that I think changed the dynamics of the case.”
Authorities say that Williams, Brown, and Darosa were charged with conspiracy, discharging a firearm during a violent crime, and robbery under a commerce law earlier this year. The incident happened shortly after the accused arrived at the hotel to buy “high-end athletic sneakers” and weed.
According to court documents obtained by Complex, the deal went bad when Darosa was seen on camera attempting to rob one of the victims of their jewelry. The victim allegedly fought back, leading Williams to shoot him in the butt. According to prosecutors, seconds before the three defendants drove away, Brown was allegedly seen shooting the second victim in the hip.
Investigators say that a Louis Vuitton bag containing over $40,000 fell out of the vehicle as the three men fled the scene. After noticing that one of the bills’ serial numbers matched a note posted on the rapper’s Instagram account, law authorities were able to track the money back to Williams.
Williams is continuing to maintain his innocence, alleging that the two shooters were armed and were trying to “push” other drugs on him at the time of the altercation. If found guilty of the firearm charges, the rapper could face a life sentence. There is currently no date set for a plea change hearing.
