St. Louis native Huey, best known for his hit song “Pop, Lock and Drop It,” has reportedly passed at the age of 31.
According to local news, the rapper, whose real name is Lawrence Franks Jr., was the victim of a double shooting in Kinloch. The incident occurred around 11:00 pm, outside of a home in the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Mable Avenue.
After the shooting, Huey was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. He died shortly thereafter. Police also discovered a second victim of the same shooting at the Ferguson Police Department. The victim arrived with a gunshot wound and was quickly transported to a local hospital. He is, however, expected to survive.
No arrest have been made in connection to the incident. But many fans and friends of the rapper have already took to social media to express their condolences. Huey leaves behind his 13-year-old daughter.
