Pop Smoke’s mother, Audrey Jackson, shared her heartbreaking thoughts after one of the men responsible for her son’s death accepted a plea deal.
After Corey Walker accepted a plea deal and faces up to 29 years in prison for his role in the 2020 home invasion that led to the rapper’s death, Jackson expressed the pain that justice cannot erase.
“This never ends for me. And that’s unfair,” she told Rolling Stone. “I appreciate they got justice to the fullest extent of the law. But my life doesn’t change. I still don’t have my son.”
Walker, who was an adult at the time of the crime, played a central role in the deadly home invasion that took Pop Smoke’s life at just 20 years old. His sentencing is scheduled for February 21, 2025.
Born Bashar Barakah Jackson, Pop Smoke was a rising star in hip-hop when he was tragically shot and killed in Los Angeles on February 19, 2020. While his killers are being held accountable, his mother says the pain of losing him will never go away.
