The legal cloud over Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, just got significantly darker. Following a massive document release from the U.S. Department of Justice, the public is getting its first look at a series of photographs and digital exchanges that further tie the former royal to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
Among the 180,000 images made public on Friday, a few standout shots depict Andrew in a highly unusual pose, appearing on all fours over a woman on the floor. While the woman in the photos is fully dressed and the location is unidentified, the lack of context hasn’t stopped the images from sparking fresh outrage and intense scrutiny.

Beyond the visuals, the newly released emails suggest a level of comfort between the two men that Andrew has long tried to downplay. In August 2010, well after Epstein’s initial conviction for soliciting sex with a minor, the billionaire reached out to an account known as “The Duke” to arrange a dinner date with a 26-year-old Russian woman. Andrew didn’t just accept the invitation; he seemed genuinely curious, asking if the woman would be “bringing a message” from Epstein and inquiring about any “useful” details he should know before the meeting.
The most explosive part of the paper trail involves a plan for a secret rendezvous in London. When Epstein mentioned needing a place for “private time,” the account linked to Andrew offered up the ultimate safe haven.
“Alternatively we could have dinner at Buckingham Palace and lots of privacy,” the email suggested. Epstein’s reply, “bp pleease [sic],” suggests that the royal residence may have been used as a backdrop for their association during a time when Epstein was already a registered sex offender.
While Andrew continues to maintain that he never saw or suspected any criminal behavior during his years with Epstein, the DOJ files suggest investigators were looking at a much different story. Documents from 2020 indicate that U.S. authorities believed he might have had “knowledge” regarding how Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell recruited women.
Despite paying a settlement to Virginia Giuffre in 2022 to end a civil suit, Andrew’s insistence that he was merely a bystander is being tested yet again by this latest mountain of evidence.
