A professional soccer player has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman on the campus of Florida International University.
On Tuesday, United Soccer League player Jahshaun Anglin, a midfielder for Miami FC and Jamaica’s national team member, was charged. According to authorities, the assault occurred in the Modesto A. Maidique faculties of FIU shortly after Anglin met the victim. They agreed to meet up in a classroom.
Once inside, the 20-year-old athlete confronted the victim and asked her to give him oral sex. When she refused, Anglin allegedly forced his hands down her pants and began assaulting her. The woman tried escaping but was pinned to the floor by Anglin, who again placed his hands in her pants before ejaculating onto her body.
A witness from another classroom found the victim crying on the floor and Anglin pulling up his pants.
A native of Jamaica, Anglin is a part of the extended roster of Jamaica’s national team, known as the “Reggae Boyz.” He has played 15 games with Miami FC this season.
Anglin pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to one count of sexual battery. His bond was set to $10,000. It appears he has been released as of Thursday.
The Miami FC stated that they are aware of the allegations and are cooperating with law enforcement.
