Rapper Quavo has found himself mixed into an alleged yacht robbery that took place over the weekend.
The odd set of events took place on Sunday onboard a Miami luxury boat when several people boarded the yacht for a party. Page Six reports that several men became upset with the crew when they were told that their time was almost up on the boat. Two of the passengers, identified as Cornell A. Whitfield and Anteneh A. Workeneh, became belligerent and demanded their money back. One of the angry men reportedly even swore to kill the captain and “throw him off the boat.”
They took things a step further by forcibly snatching the captain’s wallet, which held around $3,500 in cash. The duo also took his phone from his pants pockets before threatening to harm crew members as well if someone didn’t cough up the money for the yacht rental. Eventually, one staffer retrieved about $5,000 from a room on the ship and turned it over to Whitfield and Workeneh. Quavo was present during the incident, but it does not appear he had anything to do with the altercation.
Cell phone footage showed police swarming the vessel once it docked near The Wharf. The restaurant was briefly evacuated while a significant police presence invaded the area, according to Local 10.
As of now, the Migos star has not said anything publicly about the incident. It’s also unclear if he was among those detained in the situation.
