One of R. Kelly’s accusers, Jerhonda Pace, took to her Instagram story to share some not-so-good news.
On Friday, she posted that the Chicago case against the embattled R&B singer is headed for dismissal. The announcement will come sometime next week from Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.
“When Kim Foxx announces the dismissal of the case against R. Kelly sometime next week: it will be hard for the survivors, especially those who were waiting for their day in court,” Pace wrote. “Though it is disappointing, I understand.”
She thanked New York for landing a conviction against the disgraced singer. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the NY sex trafficking case.
“New York (EDNY) did a great job getting us justice and taking these matters seriously,” she said. “Nonetheless, I do thank @kimfoxx for trying.”
In September, Kelly was convicted of three counts of producing child pornography and three counts of enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity during his Chicago-based trial. Sentencing is scheduled for February 2023, and he faces between 10 and 20 years in federal prison.
However, if what Pace says is true, a dismissal could be coming as soon as next week.
