Ray J is officially done being quiet.
In a detailed cross-complaint obtained by Baller Alert, he lays out his entire side of a twenty year saga with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. The filing claims the sex tape that changed reality TV history was not an accident, not a leak, and not something done without Kim’s consent. According to Ray J, it was a business decision driven by fame, strategy, and Kris Jenner’s direction. The filing argues that Kim and Kris spent two decades shaping a false public narrative and then turned around and violated their own settlement agreement while blaming him for the fallout.

Ray J says the lawsuit Kim and Kris filed against him is not about defamation. He says it is about publicity, power, and punishing him for finally refusing to play along with a story he says they wrote.
Ray J claims he and Kim filmed the tape together in 2003. He says she kept the tape and he never possessed it. Years later, according to the filing, Kim wanted to release the tape to boost her name. She had watched the media attention Paris Hilton received and allegedly saw an opportunity to create her own moment.
This is where the complaint says Kris Jenner stepped in. Ray J alleges Kris managed the deal, watched both tapes they recorded and asked them to film a second one because the first tape was not explicit enough for what she had in mind. The filing says Kris reviewed both recordings and participated in deciding which one to release.

Ray J also claims Kim and Kris approved a plan to file a fake lawsuit against Vivid Entertainment to create the illusion that Kim never wanted the tape released. According to the filing, the story about a five million dollar settlement was fed to TMZ to build hype, even though Ray J says no such payout occurred.
Ray J says that after the Kardashians reignited the sex tape storyline on their new Hulu show, he took legal action. That led to a private settlement in 2023 where Kim agreed to pay him six million dollars and all parties agreed to stop publicly discussing the sex tape.
The agreement also included a one million dollar penalty for any disparaging statements and required that all disputes be handled through private arbitration.
But according to Ray J, the Kardashians ignored the agreement almost immediately. Episodes of The Kardashians aired with Kim, Kris, Ye, and Kendall talking about the tape again. Ray J says this was a clear breach of the deal and that the Kardashians tried to convince him to sign an amendment that would forgive their violations. He refused.
Ray J’s comments on TMZ and a Twitch livestream set off the current legal fight. While discussing Diddy’s case, he joked that RICO charges would make more sense against the Kardashians than against Diddy. He also made comments off camera that he did not know were still being broadcast. Kim and Kris took those remarks and filed a public lawsuit accusing him of defamation and harassment.
Ray J argues that the comments were taken out of context and that Kim and Kris used them as a way to avoid dealing with their own alleged breaches of the settlement. He also claims their lawsuit made business partners nervous and forced him to speak publicly to defend himself, which the Kardashians then tried to use against him in arbitration.
Ray J is asking the court to rule that Kim and Kris violated the settlement, that they waived their right to arbitration by filing a public lawsuit, and that they released all claims they are now suing him over. He is also seeking at least one million dollars in damages plus attorney fees.
This cross-complaint is full of details the public has never seen in a formal document. Ray J lays out his entire version of events, from the origins of the sex tape to the family’s long running media strategy. The fallout from this filing could be significant if the case moves forward in open court instead of behind closed arbitration doors.
