Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne and her estranged husband are being sued for embezzlement and fraud.
According to E! News, the lawsuit stems from allegations that Tom Girardi, 81, embezzled millions of dollars from a fatal Boeing 737 airplane crash settlement fund made to family members who lost loved ones in the crash. The plane crash happened in October of 2018 when a Lion Air flight crashed into the Java Sea thirteen minutes after taking off from Jakarta. All 189 people on board died in the crash.
Jayne, 49, is named in the complaint, filed by Edelson PC, alleging that the well-known lawyer pocketed the money “in order to continue funding his and Erika’s lavish Beverly Hill’s lifestyles.” The suit alleges the couple is obsessed with maintaining their celebrity at all costs.
“By all accounts, Girardi keeps engaging in fraud and deception in order to support a never-ending spending spree by himself and Jayne,” the suit states.
Jayne filed for divorce from Girardi last month after 21-years of marriage. The lawsuit claims the move was a “sham” to protect the couple’s wealth.
