More than 55,000 Remington brand hair dryers have been recalled after federal officials flagged serious electrocution and shock hazards.
According to the recall notice, the dryers do not contain an immersion protection device, which is designed to shut off the appliance if it falls into water while still plugged in. Without this safety feature, the risk of injury or even death is significantly higher.
So far, no injuries have been reported, but safety officials are urging consumers to stop using the dryers immediately and unplug them.
The affected model is the Remington D3190DCDN, sold in purple with black accents. It features three black buttons on the handle and the “Remington” logo printed in white on the dryer head.
The recalled units were available exclusively online through Walmart Marketplace, Target Marketplace, and Amazon between March 2024 and June 2025. Prices ranged from $25 to $32.
Empower Brands, the company that imports the product, is offering full refunds to customers. Anyone who purchased one of these dryers can reach the company by calling 1-844-695-2134, emailing HairdryerRecall@Spectrumbrands.com, or visiting the Remington recalls webpage.
This recall is being overseen by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which advises consumers to take immediate action to avoid potential danger.
With the wide distribution of the product and the severity of the risk, officials are stressing that consumers check their dryers right away to see if they own the affected model.
