According to ABC’s “Queens” creator Zahir McGhee, Remy Ma will have a reoccurring role on the show.
Last week McGhee tweeted a famous line from Rent’s 2005 hit song “Conceited” alongside a photo of them.
He wrote, “Don’t care if they can’t stand me/I’m sitting on top of the world like Brandy,” he wrote. “REMY MA has entered the QUEENDOM.”
The Bronx rapper confirmed the news herself during her recent appearance as a guest co-host on The Wendy Williams Show with Fat Joe on Tuesday last week. “Speaking of female rappers, we have great news. I am officially on the new show, Queens, on ABC,” she revealed.
Unlike prior hip-hop appearances such as Cam’ron, Jadakiss, and Fivio Foreign, who have all played themselves onscreen, Remy claimed she is the first to have a real character. “It’s pretty cool,” she said with a smile on her face.
Recently, Remy Ma has been working behind the scenes writing raps for the show. She was later approached by the production team to see if she had any interest in having a front-faced role.
Remy was initially apprehensive about playing herself because she already has some acting experience before starring in American Gangster Presents: Big 50 – The Delrhonda Hood Story.
Nonetheless, she appeared to be excited about her role. Remy noted that the first episode she’ll be in won’t run until the first week of January, but she remained tight-lipped about her character’s specifics.
