In the past week, hip-hop giants Kanye West and Drake have taken shots at one another. Now, Rick Ross, who has maintained a great relationship with both rappers, is weighing in on the long-standing gripe.
Rozay joined SiriusXM’s The Mike Muse Show, where he offered his two cents on the feud, which arrives ahead of Ye’s and Drake’s highly anticipated albums. While many fans have been panicking over the two not seeing eye-to-eye, Ross says, “I love it.”
The “Hustlin” icon revealed a text message that Drake sent him, which read: “Everything is unfolding. I’m about to be as free as a bird.” Ross says that the text message made him laugh because he understands “the genius to both of these artists” and believes that the shots are “nothing personal to them.”
The 45-year-old is often the voice of reason in rap beefs, especially those that involve Drake. During the now-infamous beef between the OVO frontman and Meek Mill, Rozay offered support to both MCs, playing a role in easing their years-long beef.
Rozay believes that Ye and Drizzy are simply “inspiring each other” ahead of their musical releases. He even downplayed Ye posting Drake’s Canada address on social media.
“Who didn’t have Drake address already? It’s the only hundred million dollar estate in Canada,” Ross laughed. “So if you don’t understand what’s going on, you would’ve thought that was personal. It really wasn’t. That’s just them getting ready for, as Drake said, ‘everything unfolding.'”
Drake and Kanye’s feud was reignited when Champagne Papi took shots at the sneaker mogul on Trippie Redd’s “Betrayal.”
“All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know/ 45, 44 (burned out), let it go/ Ye ain’t changin’ s–t for me, it’s set in stone,” Drake rapped.
It will be interesting to see where the feud goes from here. Hopefully, it leads to the release of “DONDA” and “Certified Lover Boy,” which fans anxiously await.
