A corrections captain for Rikers Island has passed away after she received a botched Brazilian butt lift from an unqualified plastic surgeon.
Dr. Hector Cabral was previously indicted in March 2011 on 10 counts of operating without a medical license and fraud and conspiracy charges. His rouge actions recently resulted in the death of 49-year-old Sandra Bowser-Williams, who travels from New York to the Dominican Republic to get the trendy plastic surgery procedure, a BBL.
Just days after leaving Santo Domingo following her procedure, Bowser-Williams, a Corrections Captain at Rikers Island, suffered a massive stroke on May 13, Fox News reports. Bowser-Williams’ husband, Curtis Williams, said his wife was excited for him to see her results.
“Her exact words to me were, ‘you’re gonna love Dr. Cabral’s work.’ I didn’t care one way or another. I accepted my wife the way she was,” said Williams, who’d been with Bowser-Williams since 1996, Fox New reports. “Everybody is distraught. She was the heart, the lifeline of the family. The heartbeat.”
Bowser-Williams’ was moved to the United Hearts Clinic after the procedure, where she later died. Williams wasn’t able to be by her side when she passed, Fox News reports.
Dr. Cabral was previously accused of charging people for consultations and medical exams while working at med spas and beauty parlors in New York, Fox News reports. He would then offer people cheap prices to get them to come to the Dominican Republic to get plastic surgeries for a low cost. However, many of the women he worked on ended up disfigured, the news outlet reports. After his first stint, he ended up getting a plea deal that resulted in no jail time; he was ordered to pay $23,055 in restitution and perform 250 hours of community service in the Dominican Republic. He was also fined $5,000.
Bowser-Williams died at the clinic Dr. Cabral opened after he moved back to Santo Domingo.
