Rikkie Kollé made history as the first transgender woman to win the title of Miss Netherlands.
On Saturday, Kollé achieved victory by surpassing nine other finalists. The organization took to its social media platforms to announce Kollé’s win, sharing a photograph of her being crowned by the current Miss Universe, R’Bonney Gabriel.
According to the Instagram post, the 22-year-old contestant displayed outstanding performance and significant growth throughout the competition.
Gabriel also tagged Kollé on her Instagram Stories, saying, “Welcome to the class of 2023.”
NOS reported that Kollé has become the second transgender person to compete in the Miss Universe competition, following Angela Ponce, who represented Spain in 2018.
