Singer Sammie shared heartbreaking news with fans, announcing the passing of his father in an emotional Instagram post that stopped timelines cold.
In a Monday Instagram announcement, the R&B singer revealed that he had moved his father, Sammie Lee Bush Sr., into his home four months ago after years of illness, staying close as his health declined. According to Sammie, his father passed away on Monday, December 29, marking what he described as the hardest moment of his life.
In his caption, Sammie wrote, “I’ moved my father in with me 4 months ago, he’s been ill for years now and fought a great fight. Yesterday morning God called him home. By far the toughest thing to witness.” He went on to share the painful details of his final moments, saying, “I performed cpr knowing his time had come but I tried daddy, I really did, And no I am not ok but one day I will be.”
The post honored his father with deep pride and love.
“Proud of you Sammie Lee Bush Sr. & I pray & know that you’re at peace now, rest up, I got my siblings, I got the family. See you in heaven. Your legacy continues. WELL DONE DADDY!” he wrote.
Sammie also shared the many names he held close to his heart.
“I love you Papa Smurf, Foxxy, my Pops, my daddy, my heart, though you took a chunk with you. Grateful for you, always in all ways. I’m heartbroken.”
He ended by asking for prayers for his family and letting fans know he plans to step away for now.
